USS Edson (DD-946) is a Forrest Sherman-class destroyer that served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1988. The ship was named after Major General Merritt "Red Mike" Edson, a Marine Corps officer known for his leadership during World War II.
USS Edson participated in numerous operations and exercises during its service, including the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam War, and various deployments to the Mediterranean and Pacific regions. The ship also received several awards and commendations for its service, including the Navy Unit Commendation and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
